Leaded lightwindows forthe cloisters and cathedrals ofCarcassonne are being delivered.
Stained glass artists and enamelers have created magnificent pieces of art. The huge
windows are yet to be assembled. However, thieves are keen on these glimmering leaded
glass windows as well,making this no easy task forthe glass artists.

There are 12 differentstained glass tiles. Ofeach tile there are 2 in the stained glass stock.

Situation A
These individualtiles can form 4 separate smallwindows consisting of3 tiles each.

Situation B
Two 3 tile windows can together form a bigger window consisting of 6 tiles. There are ONLY three possibilities, as the
enamelled glass pieces have to be connected always, as displayed in the examples. The possible 6 tile window combinations
are:
3 tile windows 1 + 2
3 tile windows 2 + 3
3 tile windows 3 + 4
6 tile window (3 tile window 2 + 3)
6 tile window (3 tile window 3 + 4)
6 tile window (3 tile window 1 + 2)
So itis notpossible to e.g. connect3 tile window 1 with 3 or4,etc.
Situation C
Three 3 tile windows can together form an even bigger window consisting of 9 tiles. There are ONLY two possibilities, as
the enamelled glass pieces have again to be connected, as displayed in the examples. The possible 9 tile window
combinations are:
3 tile windows 1 + 2 + 3
3 tile windows 2 + 3 + 4
9 tile window (3 tile window 1 + 2 + 3)
9 tile window (3 tile window 2 + 3 + 4)

Situation D
Last but not at all least, four 3 tile windows can together form the biggest window possible, consisting of 12 tiles. The 12 tile
window consists of:
3 tile windows 1 + 2 + 3 + 4
12 tile window 1 + 2 + 3 + 4
Double tiles can be drawn during the game obviously. A player will in that case have to work on two equal windows at the
same time. Double tiles can however
never
be partof1 and the same stained glass window.
Stained Glass tiles can be obtained by
- drawing a cloistertile orcathedraltile (obligatory)
- finishing a cloister,orcity with cathedral(obligatory)ÃŽ occupation is irrelevant
- stealing from anotherplayersÓwindow construction (optional)

Place a tile
After drawing any cloister tile (or cathedral tile) from the basic game or any of the various expansions, a stained glass tile
mustbe taken from the supply bag by the playerwho drew the cloisterorcathedraltile. When during the game allthe stained
glass tiles are in use,this extra draw is to be ignored untiltiles have returned to supply bag.
When finishing a cloister or a city with cathedral, the player who does so, must take another stained glass tile from the
supply bag. Itis
not
necessary forthatfinished cloisterorcity to be meepled. When there are otherplayersÓfollowers present,
the player who finishes the cloister (or city) is still the only one to obtain a stained glass tile. Points for cloister or city when
meepled go to the playerwhoÓs followeris presentthere as usual.
Atthe end ofhis turn the playercan count(ornotcount)a finished window. (see score).
The stained glass tiles are placed somewhere next to the map, in a way that each player can see the status of the window(s)
being built. Each playerconstructs his/herown window,butthe windows underconstruction should be visible forall.
Place a follower
After drawing a cloister or cathedral tile from the basic game (or any of the various expansions), and after taking a stained
glass tile from the supply bag,a followercan be placed as usualon the cloister,in the city oron a field.
In this same turn the player
may
place extra meeples on the newly drawn cloister tile, but only as many as there are roads
featured on that tile leading to the cloister. The cloister has to mark an end to the road. A road that passes by the cloister can
not be extra meepled. The thief or thieves placed on this cloister tile stay there until the road is completed and counted as
usual.
When there is one road leading to the cloister, the player may place 1 follower on that cloister + 1 thief on the road in the
same turn. This entitles the player to steal a single stained glass tile from any player having a window construction in
progress in this turn.
When there are 2, 3 or 4 roads leading to the cloister, the player may in 1 turn place a follower on the cloister + extra
followers on all of the roads. The number of thieves entitles him to steal the same number of stained glass tiles from any
playerhaving a window construction in progress. This can involve differentplayers or1 and the same player.
The road passes by this cloister. No extra thief can
be placed on this road in order to steal a stained
glass tile.Itdoes notlead straightto the cloister.
When however the same cloister tile can be placed
onto an unmeepled road leading to a cloister on
another cloister tile, an extra thief can be placed on
the passing road. There can be more tiles in between
cloisters, as long as the road is connected and not
already meepled.
