Step 6: Base Plugins
There are 3 Pages dedicated to Step 6 because of how many plugins and videos are involved in
this Step. Please take Your time and go through all three Pages.
The First page consists of Plugins that are considered essential. These Plugins and the Settings I
will go over are all included in the Auto Blog Blueprint 3.0 WordPress Install Package (except for
the
Redirection
Plugin) described in
Step 4,
but it is important for you to understand How and
Why each one of these Plugins are included as it will help you make changes and refine your
SEO Plan of Action on your own later. The second list of Plugins are Enhancement Plugins that
may or may not be required or work with every type of Auto Blog you create. Understand what
they do, test them, and make the decision on whether you want to add the functionality or
not. Some add some unique functionality. Advanced Auto Blogging plugins are not included in
this list and are a Part of Module 3. Please refer to Module 3 for Advanced Plugins which add
content to your Blog.
*Note:
This list of Plugins is based off of between 12 and 18 months of testing for some, but for
the overall list, the collection of Plugins and settings are based on 24-30 Months of
Research. There are other Plugins with similar functionality as the ones listed below, if you
decide to make changes because you prefer a different Plugin, ensure that you delete the one
you are replacing in order to avoid Plugin conflicts on your Auto Blogs. There are Plugins here
that could easily be replaced by others, but based on my research and user feedback, this is the
Best Overall List.
.
Upload, Activate, and Adjust Settings for Base Blog Plugins
Download all Plugins via the Links Below: (Unless You are using the ABB 3.0
Optimized Installation)
.
Site Administration:
This plugin replaces the GD Press Tools plugin that we used previously. GD
Press Tools actually slowed down our sites so now the ABB used the more robust Database
Optimizing power of WP-DBManager. This plugin will optimized and help you manage your
database for your blogs on Autopilot by allowing you to schedule optimization and backups of
your blog’s database. This is an essential tool for each and every blog you have to enhance and
maintain site performance and speed. Watch the video below for more specifics on how to use
this plugin.
.
An Essential Plugin when purchasing Aged or Expired Domains, this Plugin
also aids in several other Affiliate and Marketing strategies that require link or Post/ Page
redirection, not to mention it keeps your site on track in the event that you decide to re-route
traffic on your Blog. This has been known to cause some issues from time to time with
different blog installs, so be careful when implementing into your sites.
*This plugin should only be added after you have already completed blog setup and decide
that it is required. If you do not require this plugin for use with an Aged or Used Domain for
managing aged backlinks than do not use this plugin!
. .
The Ping Optimizer will help keep you from over pinging the Update
Services in your Ping List. If you over Ping, your IP Address will be Banned and your Blog
Updates will not get Published. This is an essential tool to keep Pinging in Check.
*Make sure that if you use the Ping Optimizer on the ABB Optimized Install that you
Deactivate and then Reactivate it in order to make it work properly. Watch the ABB Install
Videos in Step 4 again for more details.
.
This Plugin will help you auto update all of the Plugins on your Blog with one
click. It makes individual upgrades and mass upgrades of your Plugins on individual Blogs easy.
*This Requires No Video as it is a very Simple Plugin to use and allows you to see which plugin
updates are available.
This Plugin is much like the WordPress Mobile Pack listed below in the enhancement
plugins. The WordPress Mobile Pack will give you more options and while both Plugins are
advanced plugins for enabling Mobile visitors on your blogs, the WPTouch plugin is simpler for
beginners and that is why the WordPress Mobile Pack has been moved from a Primary Base
Plugin here to the enhancement section below. WPTouch is also very feature rich and even has
a Pro Version you can buy if you are looking for that kind of advanced capability. If you are
already running the WordPress Mobile Pack, I have left the video intact below if you need help
with it and want to continue its use as it is a great plugin, but it is a little complicated for new
users.
*Note:
Download the
file for W3 Total Cache here. Add Rejected User
Agents to enhance Mobile Viewing after installing the W3 Total Cache Plugin. W3 has
changed since this video was created, but the basic install of the Mobile Rejected User Agents
is the same. The W3 Plugin is listed in Step 6b.
.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

The WordPress SEO plugin replaces the 2 other previous SEO Plugins used by
the ABB. Platinum SEO Plugin and SEO Ultimate were both used, but via thorough testing with
the latest versions of WordPress, both were shown to have minor issues. Both are very
effective SEO Tools, but the new WordPress SEO plugin is far superior to both as it incorporates
most of the features of the other plugins, but does a better job. It also incorporates RSS Feed
management (replacing the RSS Footer Plugin), Breadcrumb Management (advanced usage),
and it replaces the Google XML Sitemap plugin by managing XML Sitemaps right from this
plugin. Through advanced testing on numerous sites, this plugin scored 100% on all detailed
SEO tests with 3 different SEO Testing tools. Please watch the video below for more
details. Right now, the only other plugin for SEO which compares in quality is the Pro Version of
the All In One SEO Pack, but even while testing both plugins, the WordPress SEO Plugin by
Yoast.com still scored higher.
*Download the detailed Settings PDF here:
**Note 1:
If you use the Platinum SEO Pack (or All In One SEO Pack), when using Advanced Auto
Blogging Plugins like WP Mage, ReviewAZON, phpBay, etc., you must
TURN OFF
the “
auto
generate descriptions
” option in your
Platinum SEO Pack
Plugin. These Plugins use Template
Tags (WordPress Shortcodes) to embed their auto generated content into Posts. If you don’t
turn this feature off, Google will index the Template tags (WordPress Shortcodes) and Search
Engine visitors will see the code instead of the content.
For example: [reviewazon=].
This is OK because Google will still index your site’s Posts and pull
a Description that ultimately will be identical to the Auto Generated version anyway, but the
Search Engine will generate its description after the content is generated (unpacked) by the
Template tags, allowing for better SEO of your site. The only way around having better
descriptions is to hand write them and I am sure most of you won’t want to do this for
potentially hundreds or thousands of Posts. There will be more information on How to Manage
Template Tags and WordPress Shortcodes in
Module 3
and How to unpack their content.
**Note 2: The WordPress SEO Plugin must have the %%excerpt_only%% tag listed in your
Post Descriptions if you find your Shortcode Template Tags are not unpacking on your sites.
.
Not necessarily the best Tagging Plugin anymore because of a lack of quality
updates since WordPress 3.0 was introduced. Most Auto Linking functions between posts do
not work well anymore and that is why in the ABB 3.0 we have introduced the SEO Smart Links
plugin. The Tagging of Posts can be done better with
It is a Paid alternative, but also
allows us to incorporate Advanced Auto Tagging into our Blogs which is highly
recommended. We will use the “Related Posts” function of Simple Tags to amplify cross linking
of content. (I do not use the Yet Another Related Posts Plugin anymore for Auto Blogs due to
the amount of Resources the Plugin uses, not because it isn’t a good Plugin.)
*Note: If Simple Tags is not working properly or conflicting with your installation, you may
have to use TagPig (See Step 10) instead if you want the same functionality, there just are not
that many options in this category of plugins right now.
.
The Smart Links plugin allows us to automatically link Posts and Pages
together randomly, increasing the amount of Inner Linking we have within our Blogs. Google
likes sites to have a link structure which shows that all content is inter-related and of
importance. You can add your own Keywords to this plugin which you want linked as well. This
is not as good as some previous plugins we have used in the ABB for our Inner Linking strategy,
but due to a lack of upgrades with those plugins and a lack of compatibility with the more
recent versions of WordPress, we have had to change our base plugin structure to deal with
this and still maintain a solid inner linking strategy. You should follow the SEO Plan of Action
and incorporate direct linking from supporting Posts to Your Money Pages automatically using
the Direct Keyword Linking functions of SEO Smart Links. There is a Professional Version of SEO
Smart Links that is way more functional and has a lot more features, including link cloaking, but
is a little expensive in my opinion. You can find it here:
.
Due some quality upgrades in the speed of this Plugin I have added it
back to the ABB. What this plugin does is it will automatically ensure that all of the Images and
Pictures on Your Blog have a proper Title and Alternate Title Tag. This will increase Your SEO
Scores and enable even more website traffic from searches in Google Images.
.
Last year Google instituted a New RSS Protocol called PubSubHub. What this new
format did was increase the speed at which Feeds could be read by some of Google’s
software. This format has now been adopted by numerous sites and other Search Engines. This
plugin automatically will provide this same formating to your site and enable your Feeds to be
Indexed at twice the speed at which they normally would. This, in some cases has allowed
blogs to have their first Posts Indexed by Google in literally 5 Minutes time. Does this happen
every time? No, but by simply installing and activating this Plugin (there are no settings) Your
Blog now has the power to rapidly have content indexed across the web.
Not a Plugin, but an essential part of your Blog’s SEO. The Robots.txt file that I have
included for you here is important for telling the GoogleBot and other Search Engine spiders
who visit your site how to index or not index your site. This file will give important instructions
to the Search Engines and keep them from indexing the content and files that you do not want
them to see like Your wp-admin and wp-content folders where Your Plugins reside. Download
it and upload it to all of your Auto Blog sites in the ROOT of the Domain
. This Robots.txt file supplements the Virtual Robots.txt file that is
generated by WordPress and then added to by the SEO Plugin. It is OK to add to the robots.txt
file but do not remove any content as it is built to work in concert with the other Plugins and
settings outlined in this Step.
*Note: You must open the Robots.txt file, then Copy and Paste the information into a Text
file. Then Save the file as: robots.txt. Then upload it to the root of your domain on your
server.
